About Tom Stickney

Tom StickneyTom Stickney is a PGA professional with over 18 years of experience on the lesson tee.

He is currently the Director of Instruction at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, CA as well as the Promontory Club in Park City, UT.

Among his accomplishments in the golfing world, Tom has been recognized as a:

  • Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher
  • Golf Digest Top Young Teacher (2006-2011)
  • Golf Tips Magazine Top 25 Teacher

In 2004, he received a Doctorate Degree in The Principles and Applications of the Golf Swing from The Golfing Machine, the premier advanced learning system for professional golf instructors worldwide. He is one of less than 20 teachers to have reached the doctorate level.

Tom has also published over 125 national instructional articles – including 8 national cover stories – that have been seen in Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, Japan Golf Today, Golf Tips, Golf Illustrated, Golf for Women, Senior Golfer, Executive Golfer, Air-Tran In-Flight, and many others.

I played for the University of Memphis, then tried the mini-tours but quickly got into teaching. My first round as a pro got me on track: I shot 74, and the guy I’m playing with shot 64. I said to myself, I need to get a real job.
